Between Individual Conscience and Political Responsibility: Bursa City Theatre’s “Adiller” on Stage Throughout March

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre brings Albert Camus’s unforgettable play “Adiller” (Les Justes / The Just Assassins) to the stage under the direction of Emre Feza Soysal! Premiered just recently, the play centres on the clash between individual conscience and political responsibility, opening up an in-depth discussion of justice, freedom, sacrifice and violence. Tickets for “Adiller”, which will be performed at Tayyare Cultural Centre on 5, 6 and 7 March and at the Orhangazi Hall of the Atatürk Cultural Centre Merinos Campus on 31 March, are available on Biletinial!

Based on a real event in early 20th-century Russia, “Adiller” tells the story of a revolutionary organisation’s attempt to assassinate Grand Duke Sergei. Through this assassination – which, it emerges, could cause the deaths of innocent children – and its consequences, the play portrays an individual caught between an inner reckoning with conscience and a responsibility to society; with its philosophical depth and dramatic structure, it compels the audience to reflect on ethical and moral choices.

Written by Albert Camus, “Adiller” is being staged as part of the repertoire of the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre, part of the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Department of Culture, Arts and Social Affairs (Bursa Kültür). Translated into Turkish by Ayberk Erkay, the play is directed by Emre Feza Soysal, with dramaturgy by Tülay Akgül . Set and lighting design are by Cem Yılmazer. In “Adiller” the stage is shared by Ahmet Rıfat Şentürk, Aykan Yılmaz, Bulut Şaşoğlu, Erdem Kahraman, Günay Yunus Güney, Hilal Öztunca, Kerim Erkap, Nihan Doğa, Okan Temizarabacı, Osman Murat Erten, Serdar Soyer, Sergen Bölük, Şafak Kerem Kızıltan, Tutku Say and Yusuf Serdaroğulları.
