Two Cellists from Hungary and Türkiye Meet at Pera Museum
Beyond Borders with the Cello
Saturday 29 November, 19.30
Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Pera Museum is preparing to welcome art lovers with a new concert programme that
puts the unifying power of music centre stage, bringing together two cellists from different parts of the world.
At the concert entitled “Viyolonsel ile Sınırlar Ötesinde” (Beyond Borders with the Cello) on Saturday 29 November at 19.30,
Richárd Rózsa from Hungary and Gökçe Bahar Oytun Duyar from Türkiye will offer audiences a musical experience beyond time and place.
The concert’s repertoire spans a wide range from the Baroque era to the 20th century. Made up of works by Pyotr
Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Reinhold Glière, György Ligeti, Béla Bartók and Adnan Saygun, the programme features striking examples
of Baroque, Romantic, Hungarian and Turkish folk music.
Highlighting the cello’s sides as “musician”, “virtuoso” and “dancer”, the selection consists of solos and duets.
Each piece reflects the musical heritage of different eras and cultures and, combined with the technical mastery and
emotional depth of the two artists, makes a powerful impression on listeners.
Organised in collaboration with the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre and with the support of Akfen Holding and Kristal Yağları,
the concert will take place on the floor of Pera Museum that houses the exhibition Kesişen Dünyalar: Elçiler ve Ressamlar (Intersecting Worlds: Ambassadors and Painters).
Held in the same space as this exhibition, which tells the history of Ottoman diplomacy through painting,
the event brings the historic atmosphere together with music, adding new meaning to the cultural dialogue between Hungary and Türkiye.
Tickets, priced at 500 TL, can be bought from Biletix or from the Pera Museum reception on the day of the concert.
Friends of Pera Museum receive a 20% discount. Places are limited and seating is unreserved.
