The Ara Güler Museum, which opened in 2018 following an agreement between Ara Güler and Doğuş Group – founder and supporter of numerous long-standing institutions in culture and the arts in Türkiye – is meeting audiences in İzmir with 45 black-and-white photographs in the main hall of Ege University’s Atatürk Cultural Centre, as part of the university’s 10th International EgeArt Days.
Türkiye’s first and only photography museum of international standard dedicated to a single artist, the Ara Güler Museum has, since its founding, organised exhibitions and events beyond its home at bomontiada in Istanbul, collaborating with arts institutions, museums and local authorities in various provinces to bring invaluable photographs and documents from the Ara Güler archive to a wide audience.
