Istanbul, 26 December 2025 – The “Hayata Varım” (I’m Here for Life) awareness project, launched with the unconditional support of Viatris Türkiye, part of the global healthcare company Viatris Inc. (Nasdaq: VTRS), and in collaboration with the Association for Psychiatric Sciences and Research (PiBAD), continues with a YouTube video series on the emotional experiences of people living with depression. Drawing on authentic stories, the series aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma and build a more compassionate society around mental health.
In the third film of the series, veteran actor Nergis Kumbasar brings to life ‘Asuman’, a woman in her 60s who has devoted her life to her husband, her daughter and her home. After losing her husband and watching her daughter become independent, Asuman faces deep loneliness, a crisis of identity and a sense of purposelessness. The film vividly reveals the emotional toll of social isolation and the search for meaning in everyday life, drawing attention to the difficulties that can arise in later years.
Asuman’s words stand out in the film:
“I gave my years – but really, what did I give up so much of myself for? I don’t know how I’ll ever get better.
What do you think?”
This striking line makes visible the emotional pain that so many adults live through in silence, giving a voice to people who are experiencing depression without realising it.
At the end of the video, Nergis Kumbasar steps out of character to address the viewer directly:
“Does this story sound familiar to you?”
Kumbasar’s words underline how profoundly identity crises, social isolation and losing one’s sense of meaning in life can affect mental health, while reminding us that support and understanding are always possible.
The video ends with a compassionate call to viewers:
“If you are feeling something similar, you are not alone.”
