Held as part of the International Gastronomy Film Festival (UGFF), where gastronomy meets cinema, the International Klazomenai Short Film Competition, open to diverse modes of production and narrative languages, will be held in the fiction, documentary, screenplay and mobile film categories.
Taking place in Urla from 5 to 7 June 2026, the International Gastronomy Film Festival will host the International Klazomenai Short Film Competition.
Gastronomy and Cinema Meet in a Competitive Spirit
The International Klazomenai Short Film Competition will be held in the “GOLD Klazomenai International Award, Klazomenai Documentary International Award and Gastronomy Screenplay Competition – International Award categories. The winners will receive their awards following the jury’s deliberations.
The GOLD Klazomenai International Award category will consider professional short fiction films centred on the themes of gastronomy, cultural heritage and memory. Professional short documentaries that use the language of documentary cinema to explore food, food production, local culture and social transformation will compete for the Klazomenai Documentary International Award. The Gastronomy Screenplay Competition – International Award, meanwhile, will cover original short screenplays focusing on food’s relationship with sociology, data and social structure.
Theme of the Momentum Mobile Film Category: “Büyüdüğüm Yer” (The Place Where I Grew Up)
Momentum, the mobile film category of the Klazomenai Short Film Competition, will focus on short narratives drawn from local memory and personal experience under the theme “Büyüdüğüm Yer”.
The category is open not only to students but also to social media content creators who produce work on mobile devices or for digital platforms, young filmmakers and independent storytellers. The maximum running time for films entered in the Momentum Mobile Film category has been set at 5 minutes. The 10 short films selected will be screened for audiences at Urladam over two days during the festival.
For those entering the Momentum Mobile Film category, a guide to mobile filmmaking will be shared on UGFF’s YouTube and social media channels as part of the festival, encouraging creators of all levels of experience to get involved.
